After 3 years Amsterdam Shuffle is back in town. We are happy to introduce the playfull fast feet of Chris Riddick & Janet Davis from UK to teach at our 5th Shuffle Amsterdam Balboa Weekend. Be ready for fun classes for 3 levels and 3 parties on Friday night, Saterday night and Sunday afternoon. We are really excited to be back. Stay also updated via Facebook.

Single follows will be placed on a waiting list starting januari 27th.
If you register with a partner, please register both separately.
Registration without partner is possible, of course, but we will be confirming you based on the lead/follow balance. Want to ensure your place? Register with a partner! There is space for about 20 couples per level.

21:00 - 01:00 Welcome party at SOOP with DJs and band. Shuffle the night away on the smooth floor of the Kompaszaal, the former passenger hall of the "Koninklijke Nederlandse Stoomboot Maatschappij". Say hello to the teachers, local dancers and old friends!SOOP is a weekly dance event, not related to Shuffle Amsterdam. We will visit this social dance as an opportunity to also meet more of the local swingscene.

Refund policy
We cannot refund your purchased passes for any reason. You can, however, re-sell your pass on your own behalf, just let us know by e-mail to whom you sold your pass as soon as possible so we can update our registration.
Staying in Amsterdam
Since we are just a small team organizing this special weekend, we don't offer hosting. But do feel free to ask and offer hosting here on the Facebook event page. And dear Amsterdam dancers, if you have room for some cool & sophisticated dancers, you can add to all the magic and enjoy some good company and eternal gratitude!
Amsterdam is a very popular city, so reserving a hotel should be done well in advance.
Prices are much cheaper outside the city center.

The teachers
After years of Lindy Hop, Janet and Chris each discovered Balboa and fell head-over heels for it. There is no known cure for their Balboa addiction, which has been known to break out in bars, seafronts, Swedish shopping centres, and the middle of a French high street. (They've even been known to demo Balboa at Salsa venues...would that make it "Balsa"?) They are familiar faces on the international Balboa scene, travelling the world to attend workshops as students, as competitors and as teachers.
Janet is renowned for her Balboa footwork and her "follower voice", while Chris - well, any follower will vote him one of the most musical leads they've ever met. Together they're known for their lively and interactive teaching style, which shows students how to learn for themselves and to look at things from a new angle (they're the only folks we know who use biscuits, jigsaws and giant foam hands to teach Balboa musicality ...!) If you're a beginner, they'll make those important basics clearer than you've ever heard them before, and if you've already got some experience of Balboa, they'll guarantee to stretch your skills as well as your thinking, by making moves and patterns easy to pick up for the less experienced and really challenging for those who want it. Level 1
(abs beginner):
You never danced balboa before or did just a few hours of tasters. You are curious what balboa is like. We will teach you some of the basic patterns to get you started.
Level 2
(beginner/intermediate):
you dance balboa for at least 6 months to 1 year and you can dance most basics (single time and double time basic, lollies, paddles, out & ins, throw out/come around). You like to broaden your vocabulary of steps and get more technical skills to improve your dancing.
Level 3
(intermediate/advanced):
You dance balboa at least 1 year. You dance balboa regularly, you go to classes or participated in some international workshops. You have a palet of steps but you like to expand your vocabularly, be more musical and refine your technical skills.
